5 books you may have overlooked
Takahashi's Daily Tofu is here to give you a few books that are totally awesome that you may have just walked on by and never looked at but are totally worth the read.
1.) A Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick: This sole novel is the only Dick book to ever earn the Hugo Award which is one of the most prestiges awards you can get for a Sci-Fi novel. This is an alternative fiction that really rocks your mind with the future of the world of the Axis won the second world war. Giving us insight on how the world is split between the factions of Japan and Germany and how America along with the rest of the globe is enslaved. You may know Dick for his more famous novels such as Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (a.k.a. Blade Runner) or the short Minority Report but this novel his first is well worth the read.
2.) Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs: This novel is one of the strangest and most debated works of fiction to probably ever come in America's history. It is a book written in small vignettes which make it so interesting and worth while. In other words, you don't have to start with the first chapter, you can simply pick it up and read all the different parts as a different set all of which add up to the bigger picture. The story is the adventure of a man into the Interzone with his type writer by his side. It is quite interesting I must say the least, it is full of interesting creatures such as the Mugwomp and various others. Be prepared for it though, this novel is riffed with vulgar and obscene material it definitely is not for everyone.
3.) K-Pax by Gene Brewer: A story of an Alien named Prot from the planet K-Pax who comes to Earth to check out the planet and his trip into a mental institution. The interesting thing about this book is that it is written through the perspective of the doctor who is presiding over his case. Even more so is the fact that the book is written by a doctor as well. Anyway we never really get a definitive answer on if he really is an alien or not, it is totally up in the air to find out just like the doctor. It is well worth the read and the Hollywood film really leaves out the good parts.
4.) The Salmon of Doubt by Douglas Adams: The final book by the great English author, The Salmon of Doubt really gives us an insight on the man behind The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It is a collections of essays for just about every electronic device the man ever owned and part of his unfinished autobiography. Even for someone who has not read his other works, the essays are quite interesting and alone are deserving of human eyes. Next time you stroll on by the Sci-Fi section take a look at this wonderful collection.
5.) The Constitution of The United States of America: I know, I know. It is not a book in most people's eyes. Just the outline of our country. But it is often overlooked and never really read. Think about it, how many people actually have read the thing through and know all of it's principles. Folks spitting out jib jab on the 1st without knowing what it really says. For all of you who have never read it take a look at it here at house.gov.

Tween Robots
Well the title is a little deceiving we are definitely not talking about screaming little High School Musical robots designed to have the appearance of 10-12 year old human being. No our tween robots friends are something quite different from that.
The "tween bot" is designed by Kacie Kinzer for an experiment to test the interaction between human and something non-human in this case a robot. The bigger picture of this is to test man's reaction or should I say interaction with aliens or anything of the sort.
Our cute little friend was placed in different places with a little flag on its back saying "Help Me!!" fallowed by a destination that it normally could not reach on its own. The tween bot goes in one direction and goes only one speed. It also rides low to the ground making it easy for it to get stuck in a gutter or a crack in the concrete.
The results? Pretty darn good, it seems that the good people of this world are willing to help out this little guy. Just take a look!
