The vuvuzela is a large horn that has gained a world wide recognition as the most annoying thing on the face of the Earth short of a horde of wooing pre-teens in line for Twilight thanks to the South Africa hosted FIFA World Cup. If you've tuned into one game you've heard the incredibly loud and annoying sound the horn produces.
Unmodified versions of the vuvuzela can reach up to a ludicrous 120+ dB, that's around the same as a jet engine, and certainly enough to make one experience sever permeant hearing loss.

They may not be able to enjoy the sound of the vuvuzela anymore, but you sure will.
Since the first opening games of the cup the sound has been blaring non-stop in every game, and on the streets during the downtime. It's even gone so far as having the FIFA commission thinking about banning the instrument, and asking for peoples of the audience to cease blowing the horn during games. While people certainly are having a certain hate for the instrument, it hasn't stopped the fan fare it's created on the web as people on the web come to accept the thing.
Youtube has added icons onto certain videos that play the vuvuzela:*
Look you can even tune into old educational films on spies with that modern vuvuzela flavor!
There is even a site called Vuvuzela-Time which converts any site into an instant fix for a World Cup fan having vuvuzela withdrawals during downtime. To top this there have been several Youtube videos making spins of games including the vuvuzela from Vuvuzela Hero:
To Doom with a BFG modded into a vuvuzela including the sound:
It's safe to say when this World Cup comes to an end, this is the one aspect that I wont be missing, let's just hope it doesn't gain popularity in other sports, like curling.
*Update: The Youtube feature is no longer available. Fun while it lasted!
